The very first World’s Collider Promotional Image!

Is it true? Is it really the very first promotional image for the World's Collider anthology? Why yes, it is. Beautifully painted by Carolyn Edwards, the guys at Nightscape Press added the words and the result, I think you'll agree, is pretty cool. This may or may not end up being the cover for the anthology itself -- we're discussing various options right now. We will be using this image for the front of a rather snazzy promotional postcard, which will be handed out at conventions and such in t...

World’s Collider signs with Nightscape Press!

As you may have heard this week, I've signed with a new publisher for World's Collider, the shared-world apocalyptic anthology I am currently editing. Nightscape Press is a brand new venture from two of the editors behind Horror For Good, the charity anthology with the killer line up. Mark Scioneaux and Robert Shane Wilson have big plans for NSP and it's a thrill to be their first project out of the gate. (more…)

New banner time

I thought it was about time to update my banner with some more recent publications, and a couple of older covers that seem to balance well. Of course, I have no artistic sensibilities whatsoever, so if you think it looks terrible by all means let me know. I have seen the cover art for World's Collider, by the way, and it's gorgeous. Carolyn Edwards is a star. A big announcement is coming soon regarding this shared-world apocalyptic anthology. Not long to wait now, my lovelies.

Ginger Nuts, Colliders, and Horror For Good!

A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks. So let's start with a highlight. Jim McLeod of the Ginger Nuts of Horror review site has some lovely words to say about my story in Phobophobia. Go have a read of the review if you're so inclined. He's about half way through covering all the stories in this huge volume but seems to be enjoying it so far. The guy totally gets where I was coming from with L is for Lygophobia and it's a huge thrill for any writer when that happens. Next up is th...

What a year it’s been…

2011 was a tumultuous year to be sure. For starters, I lost my job of eleven years, my wife lost her job of ten, within months of each other. I was lucky enough to find new employment so we'll be fine, but it's still a scary thing to happen, especially in the current economic climate. In terms of my writing though, 2011 has been a stellar year. I sold as many short stories in one year as I have done all the previous years of my life combined! By my count, ten of my stories have been commissio...

World’s Collider – Announcing Bonus Stories!

I am delighted to announce that World's Collider will be bigger than the book it's printed in! In addition to the stories announced last week, three extra titles have been commissioned and will be featured on this website as free-to-read bonus stories. They will be made available around the same time as the book is published and you can either devour them straight away, or read them in between the stories in the book. (I will let you know where the web-only stories are placed so you can read eve...

World’s Collider – Nearly There!

The wait is nearly over. I have finally come up with a table of contents I can live with! I say that not because I'm unhappy with the stories I've included (far from it) but instead because of the ideas I had to let go along the way. Seriously, some of these cuts were so painful I just had to keep asking myself, do I totally love this idea and will I ever forgive myself if I don't commission it? (more…)

World’s Collider update and Kizuna in paperback

First things first, Kizuna - Fiction for Japan, is now available in paperback . This collection, benefiting orphans affected by the earthquake and tsunami earlier this year, is well worth picking up. For now, only Amazon.com has copies. Hopefully it will be appearing in paperback on the UK and Canadian sites. I can't wait to hold that beautiful cover in my hands. (more…)
